Walking around the city sometimes you want to travel with the breeze. But a bicycle is not a very compact means of transport, so it does not fit in the trunk of a car. What cannot be said about the DIGMA Urban Lite electric scooter. This compact device weighs only around 12kg, fits easily into the trunk of an average car, and the built-in battery lasts up to 15km. The maximum speed is limited to 25 km per hour, which contributes to driving safety. It is a true urban transport, light, compact and manoeuvrable.

Packaging and scope of delivery

The package includes: an electric scooter, a power adapter to charge the built-in battery, a 3mm hex key, an adapter / nozzle for pump wheels, fasteners for mounting, a user manual and a warranty card.

The scooter comes in a large cardboard box with a picture of the device and technical specifications in several languages. The packaging is tight and withstands small bumps well. So you don’t have to worry about security. Inside, cardboard and foam pads are additionally placed.

Assembly

The scooter is delivered assembled, so for its partial assembly it will be necessary to install the handlebar and fix it in the desired position, as well as to secure the folding steering column. For work, full screws and a hexagon will be required.

After these simple manipulations, the scooter is completely ready for work. My device came half charged so I sent it in for charging. The time taken is about 1.5-2 hours and a full battery. Charger with long cables, so you won’t be tied directly to an outlet. During charging, the corresponding LED on the charger lights up.

The kit includes an adapter to inflate the wheels. Initially, the wheels do not require pumping, as they have normal pressure, but in the future they may need to be updated. To do this, connect the adapter to the wheel and the pump. Unfortunately, the instructions do not indicate the true pressure in the wheel, so it is better to familiarize yourself with the wheel. Both wheels are inflatable, so the smoothness of movement and shock absorption are well ensured.

The scooter uses a mechanical disc brake, so it requires adjusting the braking force and replacing the brake pads. But this will not happen soon, and it depends on the driving style. Especially when driving slowly, engine braking can occur. After unpacking, no adjustment was required, but still check before first ride.

The brake lever is located on the left handlebar. The pressure is soft, no hydraulics are provided. So you need to adapt and test at low speed.

The handles located on the steering wheel have a rubber base that does not slip in the hands. With a smooth structure, which further reduces vibration during movement. The throttle lever is installed on the right side, and the brake lever and bell are on the left.

In the middle, the LED screen is built into the case and is not even visible from the outside. Only one physical button is assigned for control. The same button selects the operating mode. The screen shows the battery charge level, the selected operating mode, the current speed, the inclusion of dimensions and even the errors that occur. On the side facing the direction of travel, you can see the backlight. At night, it allows you to illuminate the space in front of you, but the brightness is not enough for a trip in complete darkness.

Closer to the platform is a lever that allows you to fold the scooter for storage and transport. To do this, you just need to pull it to the side and lower the steering column. It is better to fold and unfold the scooter in the off state, to avoid spontaneous start of movement. When fully folded, the steering wheel hooks with the steering wheel to a special loop on the rear fender and locks in this position. To transport it, you can hold it by the luggage rack or roll it by the handlebars.

The platform, like the scooter itself, is made of aluminum alloy. An anti-slip pad in the form of a silicone plate with protrusions is installed on the top. The width is enough to confidently hold even an adult. On the deck there is a folding leg that allows you to install the electric scooter in a vertical position.

The cast rear wheel has a disc brake and a fender with a loop to secure the rudder guide. It is noteworthy that in the wing there is a position light that warns in the dark of the presence on the road. What can not always be found in similar devices.

At work

Both an adult and a child can ride the DIGMA HF8.5-8-ST electric scooter. Because the steering wheel reach is adjustable and you can set a speed limit. The light weight of the scooter is suitable for learning to ride and walk. It’s light, agile, and has enough charge to get you started. The maximum speed I managed to develop was 28 km going down a small hill. Going up this small mountain, the speed drops a bit, but the scooter climbs it with confidence. At some point, if the speed is not enough, you can try to help push the scooter with your foot, just like in childhood. In fact, I didn’t realize how much you can ride a scooter on a full charge, but the whole family used it, we have different weights and ride for different lengths of time. Therefore, the overall results are not subjective. But what everyone who rode it noticed was the comfortable soft inflatable wheels that gobble up all the bumps, despite their low profile.

If you haven’t used it before, it’s pretty easy to learn. To protect yourself from falls, you can use individual knee pads, elbow pads, gloves, and a helmet. And if you feel more advanced, then you can do without them. We put the support foot on the platform, push with the second foot and slightly press the throttle lever. The scooter will go, you just need to adjust the speed and balance.

For added comfort during driving, automatic cruise control is provided, which turns on after 6 seconds of holding the throttle lever in one position. You can reset cruise by braking or lightly pressing the throttle lever.

I have almost 100 kilograms and judging by the video the scooter picks up speed perfectly with maximum load.

conclusions

The Digma Urban Lite electric scooter pleased with the build quality, all seams are perfectly welded. The lightweight body is additionally reinforced with stiffeners. An informative screen is used to monitor status, allowing you to view detailed information, right down to errors that occur. It weighs only about 12 kilograms, so it will be convenient even for a child to handle. A large selection of speed limit modes will once again be available for learning to drive. The scooter is solidly assembled, it does not play when crossing irregularities and it perfectly supports my weight of 100 kg. It has a power reserve to start accelerating. Engine or rear brake braking is safer in an urban environment.

Presentable appearance, multiple security systems and a mechanical disc brake make this electric scooter the best choice for me.

Disadvantages include the location of the power supply connector. It is located at the lowest point, covered with a rubber stopper, but during operation, water can move away and enter. Therefore, it is worth monitoring this moment and correcting the plug in time if it opens. And also the power button, because I have great doubts about its tightness. Unfortunately, you will not be able to find out the mileage, since there is no control via a mobile application, but such functions are present in more expensive analogues of electric scooters.
