Security forces managed to locate Chinese hacker Wang Yunhe, who launched his powerful botnet in 2014. He then hacked the devices using their IP addresses and sold access to the hacked devices and servers to other cybercriminals.
During the coronavirus outbreak, Yunhe began attacking himself and providing the capacity for attacks on infrastructure and subsequent fraud as part of helping victims. He and his accomplices also participated in child labor-related frauds. There have been other cyber attacks.
Over the years of the botnet’s existence, the Chinese hacker and his team earned approximately $99 million. However, the botnet was eventually eliminated.
