Due to the Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 certifications of the drivers being revoked by Microsoft, NVIDIA’s new driver is not WHQL certified and does not contain any updates regarding games, functionality or optimization.

The main purpose of the update is to fix security. However, NVIDIA did not disclose the specific vulnerabilities addressed in this release; may be published at a later date.

Although the share of Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 users in the world is relatively small, it is still significant.

According to Statcounter, Windows 7 occupies 2.86% of the global operating system market, and its share among gamers is only 0.38%.

But considering that the total number of Windows PCs exceeds 1.5 billion, the number of users of older operating systems is still significant.
