In 2015, scientists in Copenhagen found that people who did moderate to light jogging had a lower death rate than others. Runners did not have statistically different death rates than non-runners.
Slow running is known to improve health at the molecular level. It protects against metabolic diseases by increasing insulin resistance, increases the density of mitochondria in cells and encourages the body to use fat for energy.
Additionally, slow runners recover faster and are less likely to experience fatigue or injury from overtraining. They are also more likely to feel good about themselves, and their slower pace allows them to talk to others.
