Winamp was one of the most used applications of the 2000s. Because the software had a range of audio mixing sources, it was possible to play MP3 files and other audio formats on computers, in addition to the ability to “play” as a DJ. But engineer Rodrigo Mendez goes further: created a device that simulates the late application.
It’s called Linamp A touch-screen MP3 Player with a system that simulates the application’s famous interface. Moreover, just like traditional Winamp, supports a number of audio formats, including newer ones.
The device is powered by the Raspberry Pi 4B board and has a 32 GB SD card for storing files. Unfortunately Linamp is just a Mendez project. The application, which left its mark on a generation, is not sold to other fans..
USB and Ethernet connections and 7.9 inch display
Linamp also stands out with its design reminiscent of other stereos, such as car stereos. Even though it doesn’t have built-in speakers, the device has USB, Ethernet and 3.5 mm connectionsso you can even plug in headphones to play music.
Your system already includes DietPi, a Debian-based Linux distribution running on the Raspberry Pi. It also brings a 7.9-inch ultrawide touchscreen with classic Winamp interface. It is worth remembering that one of the features of the software is extensive customization, whether in terms of color or graphic elements such as control buttons, music lists and more.
Mendez applied to create the exterior of the device Parts produced with 3D printersIt’s mainly on the front of the device, to fit neatly into the Winamp interface.
