“Hi everyone, thank you very much for your enthusiasm and support!” Barclay Dye, Luma’s head of product and growth, wrote in a post on the company’s Discord channel on Wednesday. “We are now facing high demands and are working to increase our capacity! Not all generations will be lost, but rather will remain in the queue. We will update the status here as soon as we have additional capacity!”
As of Thursday morning, the line for Dream Machine service was just over a minute, a significant improvement from the day before. Part of the Dream Machine’s immediate success can be attributed to Luma’s previous efforts to connect with prominent AI video creators before launching the public beta, giving them a preview of the model’s capabilities and allowing them to share their created creations online throughout the day.

Initial feedback from creators was generally positive, as users were able to create five-second videos in a couple of minutes based solely on text prompts. Some users even made direct comparisons with Sora from OpenAIis widely considered to be the state of the art in video creation using artificial intelligence.

Dream Machine’s free tier allows users to create up to 30 video clips per month, although higher paid tiers allow up to 2,000 videos per month for $499. Luma AI’s offering is nothing less than the latest entry in an increasingly crowded and crowded world. contested AI space.
