Scientists note that many vulnerable people, including the very old and young, spend most of their time indoors. But at the same time, they cannot cool their homes in the heat. The results of the new study were published in the journal Heliyon.

The truth is that indoors can be warmer than outside. And this is really a problem. Many low-income people do not have access to air conditioning or cannot afford to turn it on due to electricity costs.

As a result, when the weather is hot, your home may experience dangerously high temperatures. This can lead people to heart and breathing problems, increased risk of blood clots, and impaired kidney function.

Extreme heat is known to cause more deaths on average than any other extreme weather event in the United States.

In hot weather, you can close the curtains at home, stay hydrated, wear light clothing and take a shower to cool off.
