Apple is actively looking for a Chinese company to jointly launch Apple Intelligence within the country, The Wall Street Journal reports.

This is due to the fact that the services of OpenAI and other global companies do not work in China. Chatbots based on large language models require permission from the Chinese government to run. So far, China does not use any foreign service providers.

Apple has held talks with Baidu, Alibaba and Beijing startup Baichuan AI, but so far to no avail.
