Irwin emphasized the importance of adapting to “changing fraud tactics,” including fraudsters’ use of artificial intelligence. While he acknowledged that bank fraud had decreased in Australia compared to other regions, he stressed that banks needed to combine “speed and convenience with enhanced security measures”.

He described his bank’s approach as “the best alarm system against financial fraud.”

Its effectiveness has not yet been tested by Australian citizens.
