In Moscow, sales of 5,000 Troika cards equipped with the new Russian NE501CD+ chip have begun. The developers claim that this chip has three times more memory than the previous version. Now these cards can be purchased at ticket offices and metro machines. This was announced by Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport Maxim Liksutov.
Liksutov stressed that the new chips were developed entirely in Russia. He noted that in the future, these technologies will provide passengers with additional tariff options and the use of the Troika will be expanded to other regions of the country.
The NE501CD+ is ISO 14 443A compliant and has hardware support for the ISO 14 443–4 transmission protocol. The chip is equipped with dedicated user memory and a secure protocol based on AES 128, which provides a high degree of security. It has a large number of rewrite cycles, a high-speed data transfer interface, and high performance in reading and writing information.
