According to sources at the agency, the charges may be due to a possible abuse by the company in the field of artificial intelligence technologies. The French regulator’s main concern is work on Nvidia’s CUDA software.
In the fall of 2023, Nvidia’s French offices were raided, which Reuters reported was part of a large-scale investigation into cloud computing.
At the same time, sources at the agency say that the European Commission has no intention of extending the preliminary investigation against Nvidia due to the interest of the French regulator.
In June, Nvidia became the world’s most valuable company with a market capitalization of $3.322 trillion, surpassing Microsoft on this metric. The company’s growth is linked to the rise of artificial intelligence, for which Nvidia supplies chips.
A week after reaching the record, the company experienced the largest drop in market capitalization in history. According to trading results on June 24, Nvidia shares lost approximately 7% in price and the technology company’s market capitalization fell below $3 trillion.
