According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, mass production will begin in 2026. The cameras in the new AirPods will be used to improve spatial audio and increase synergy with other Apple devices.
More precisely, the new product will be equipped with infrared cameras similar to the Face ID sensors on the iPhone.
These cameras will work with Apple Vision Pro and future AR headsets to enhance the spatial audio experience.
For example, when a user turns their head in a certain direction while watching a video with Vision Pro, the sound from that direction will be amplified, creating a more realistic spatial experience.
The production of the new AirPods will be carried out by Foxconn, and production capacity is expected to reach up to 10 million units.
