According to The Verge’s extensive testing, ARM-powered Surface laptops generally outperform the MacBook Air, but Apple’s MacBook Pro, equipped with its 16-core M3 Max and 12-core M2 Max chips, still has a significant lead, especially in GPU-intensive tasks and overall system performance.
Despite Microsoft’s efforts to improve x86 emulation with Prism, it still lags behind Apple’s Rosetta 2 in terms of smoothly running older apps. In another competitive area, battery life, Snapdragon laptops come close to but fall short of the MacBook Air’s 18-hour mark.
