In the second quarter of 2024, worldwide PC shipments grew 3% to 64.9 million units, according to research firm IDC.

Apple showed the biggest increase, with Mac shipments up 20.8% to 5.7 million units.

Windows PC makers are showing more modest results. For example, Lenovo is the world’s number one PC shipper (14.7 million units), but its growth was only 3.7%.

IDC vice president Ryan Reith said shipments were driven by AI-focused PCs, although they accounted for only 3% of shipments.

He also expects Mac share to grow in the third quarter following the release of Apple Intelligence.
