Beef jerky contains protein, which supports muscle growth and repair. It also has less fat than other processed snacks, making it a healthier alternative when you’re craving something tasty.
Jerky is also a source of iron, zinc, vitamin B12 and other nutrients.
One of the main drawbacks of beef jerky is its high sodium content. Too much of this substance can lead to high blood pressure, which increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.
Additionally, many commercial jerky products contain added sugar and preservatives, which can negate some of the product’s health benefits.
Eating processed meat may also lead to an increased risk of certain types of cancer.
