Just recently we looked at how original Apple cases and accessories look after 3 years of constant use.
Among the worn and leather cases and wallets, a transparent polycarbonate case stood out, which looked quite fresh in the photographs.
What Happened to the Representatives of iPhone Cases After 3 Years of Use
While reviewing this material, I was once again glad that I made the right choice in using this particular polycarbonate case when purchasing my iPhone 15 Pro in 2023. This case is truly the most unpretentious in terms of use.
And today I accidentally noticed that there are problems with my case too. And such problems that I personally have never encountered on the Internet.
This is something, some kind of plastic pigmentation.
Over the years, I’ve seen all sorts of examples of Apple’s clear cases aging: cracks appeared in the corners of the frame, buttons began to turn yellow, the cover could crack when removing it from the iPhone body.
But something different happened to my case. It had a dark brown stain on it.
It’s not too noticeable, but if you saw it… Now these spots are an eyesore.
It looks like I burned the plastic edges of the case with a lighter. However, this, of course, did not happen, and the heat caused deformation.
Upon closer inspection, these stains look as if they appeared inside the transparent polycarbonate. They cannot be rubbed off with either fingers or a melamine sponge.
No physical impact on the case. No small devices nearby or extreme conditions.
There are only three dark spots, all of them appeared on the edges of the case. There were no impacts on the case.I carried it, as usual, in my pocket and did not put it next to hot teapots or other objects.
Otherwise, by the way, the case is excellent. I’ve been using it for more than half a year, nothing has turned yellow, cracks in the corners are not processed, everything is good.
We have been using it for 8 months, the appearance is excellent.
But here are three dark spots… Where did this plastic pigmentation come from?
There is a theory that when creating a transparent case, pores from trapped air bubbles can get inside, which over time become clogged with dirt. But visually I don’t see anything, and you would have to wash yourself with soapy water after cleaning the case with a toothbrush to get to that same dirt.
None of this happened, the stain is still on our corners. Now that I know about them, the brown spots are very annoying. It would be better if the case was yellow, it would not be so noticeable.
It’s a shame, the case really is the best.
