Snapdragon 4s Gen 2: New processor aims to bring 5G to cheap phones

Qualcomm announced this Tuesday (30) a new chipset that promises to bring 5G to more basic mobile phones. Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 is manufactured using 4nm lithography and promises more powerful, yet more affordable products.

What will phones with Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 be like?

According to Qualcomm, the chipset also supports artificial intelligence (AI) features. The new Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 also has the following features:

• Connectivity features: 5G Sub-6 GHz (1 Gbps), Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1;

• Support for displays with resolutions up to Full HD+ and a frequency of 90 Hz.

The image signal processor (ISP) used by is a 12-bit Spectra. It supports different camera configurations such as two 16MP sensors or one 32MP sensor. The new Snapdragon also supports photos with up to 84MP capture and HEIC, H.264 (AVC), and H.265 (HEVC) formats. Slow-motion videos can reach up to 120fps but are in HD resolution (720p).

The new chipset supports Quick Charge 4+ technology, among others, can support LPDDR4x memories (up to 2133MHz), UFS 3.1 storage, as well as USB-C 3.2 cables. It also comes with dual-band GPS, which is more effective and accurate.
