Microsoft is going to deprecate one of the most advanced versions of Paint. The tech company warned its users that Paint 3D will no longer receive updates at the end of 2024.. The application has been added to the list of deprecated Windows features and services, so it will disappear in the near future.
The Redmond giant has updated the list of legacy Windows features by adding Paint 3D. The application, which was once intended as a replacement for the old Paint, did not gain much traction among users. Microsoft intended to modernize its image editor with an application with advanced features and support for 2D files, but many turned away from it because they preferred the classic Paint interface.
According to the listing, Paint 3D is deprecated and will be removed from the Microsoft Store on November 4, 2024.. Microsoft suggests users to use Paint or Photos app to edit their images. On the other hand, those who want to view the 3D file can choose 3D Viewer or any other third-party solution.
Paint 3D debuted in 2017 as a replacement for Microsoft Paint on Windows 10. The tech company redesigned the classic app’s interface to fit the new era and added new features. Perhaps most importantly, Paint 3D will no longer be OS-specific, but will instead be offered as a standalone UWP app in the Microsoft Store.
The Paint replacement had corresponding features such as support for 3D files and the ability to create animations.
