One of the most famous studies aimed at examining the similarities between pets and their owners was conducted by Michael Roy and Nicholas Christenfeld, experts from the University of California, San Diego.
You may often find that pets and their owners have some characteristics in common, such as coat/hair color, hairstyle, etc.
In the study, Roy and Christenfeld selected photos of 45 dogs and their owners, which the scientists then showed to random people who were able to match the pets and people with high accuracy.
Experts have come to several conclusions. First, people tend to choose dogs that are similar to themselves. Also, the more a pet and its owner live together, the more they begin to resemble each other. Finally, the deep emotional bond between an animal and its owner leads to synchronization of their appearance and behavior.
Other studies in Japan have confirmed that dogs and their owners often have similar attitudes and facial expressions.
