The company explained that the decision was the result of a market analysis and that the transition to the Cyrillic alphabet had been in preparation for more than a year. The change of style will occur gradually. By the end of 2024, it is planned to switch to a new spelling in the design of both devices and packaging.
This step was influenced by both the political situation and legislative initiatives, as well as consumer attitudes.
There will be no changes in countries where products of international brands are presented, the press service clarified.
Unilever previously decided to Russify its brands in Russia. Thus, Dove hygiene products were renamed “Dove” and Ekzo ice cream was renamed “Exo”.
Henkel also made a similar decision in 2023.
