As the smartphone market prepares to officially receive its first tri-fold mobile phones, Chinese brand Tecno recently showed off its own concept. Called the Phantom Ultimate 2, the foldable bets are based on a more vertical design and aim to change the way users use these devices.
While the company hasn’t revealed many technical details about the upcoming smartphone, a teaser posted on YouTube shows its usage positions. In addition to the traditional open format that resembles a tablet, it is also possible to fold the device like a laptop and use part of the screen as just a keyboard.
On the other hand, since the screens are visible to those behind and in front of the mobile phone, the position shown below could be interesting to present the interaction between two people. As a result, it is likely that the Phantom Ultimate 2 and other future models will take great advantage of the product’s elongated body to offer a multitude of possible uses.
Tecno, still unknown to Brazilians, arrived in the country about two months ago. The company came to the country with devices like the POVA 5 and the Spark 20 Pro.
10 inch OLED display
According to Tecno, the Phantom Ultimate 2 is an ultra-thin tri-fold smartphone that measures just 11mm thick. This makes it even thinner than the existing 12.1mm Galaxy Z Fold 6. It is worth remembering that some rumors have pointed to a much thinner Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim coming soon.
The device, which has a 6.48-inch screen when completely closed, reaches about 10 inches when opened in 4: 3 format. In addition, the manufacturer added an OLED type screen with 3K resolution and quite square edges.
There’s no price or suggested release date for the Phantom Ultimate 2, as it’s still a concept, but the first triple-decker smartphones should come via companies like Huawei, which is already well along in the process.
