Yogesh Brar is quoted as saying that the Chinese company plans to start developing the first phone with its own processor. According to him, Xiaomi is working on the chip together with the Chinese company Unisoc. The partners will be responsible for the development of the 5G module. Most likely, the processor will be based on TSMC’s four-nanometer technology.
An internal report suggests that the Xiaomi chip will have similar performance to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor launched in 2021. The first devices could appear on the market in the first quarter of 2025. Next year, according to Brar, will be the most important for the company in terms of launching new products.
Information about Xiaomi creating a fully proprietary processor appeared several years ago. The Chinese IT giant probably wants to become more independent of suppliers.
Xiaomi’s new flagship smartphones will receive Gemini artificial intelligence. The first devices with Google AI could be the Xiaomi 15 models, which will be presented in October-November 2024.
