The Play Integrity API tool will be integrated into the Play Protect app protection system against viruses and threats. If the app is not installed from the official Google store, i.e. is pirated, the user will receive a notification from the developer telling them to download it from Google Play for further use.

If the user refuses to install the official app, the developer will be able to restrict access to the pirated app. The portal did not specify how exactly the restriction would work. If the user accepts the notification’s request, the unofficial app will be deleted along with the user’s data.

Google has said it has no intention of completely banning the installation of apps from third-party sources and has introduced the new feature to protect developers from piracy.
