The brewery has been in operation for 334 years and has been owned by the same family for the last 135 years. Christa Zoller, the company’s owner, told Bild that Schlössle-Bier can no longer compete with the larger producers.

An announcement about the closure has already appeared on the brewery’s website. The statement said the cessation of production was due to rising costs and a decline in beer consumption. The sale will be finalised “within a few weeks”.

Zoller explained in an interview that due to the rising cost of raw materials and energy, beer would have to be sold at prices twice as high as they are now.

Schlössle-Bier has a restaurant in the brewery that will continue to operate, but from the beginning of 2025 it will no longer sell its own beer. The establishment is still making a profit, and was the one that recently covered production losses.
