The first specs of the ROG Phone 9, which is expected to launch in 2025, have leaked, suggesting improvements to the display and processor. According to tipster Smart Pikachu, the upcoming gaming smartphone will be one of the models to launch with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be the next high-end chip to be available in premium smartphones starting later this year, so it makes sense for Asus’ flagship player to get the SoC, which was supposed to debut with the Xiaomi 15 series and is still expected to integrate models like the OnePlus 13 and Honor Magic 7.
In addition to the new chip, the ROG Phone 9 should retain the same 24GB of RAM as the last generation, which will make a difference when running more complex games like certain AAA titles. Internal space should also remain at 1TB, but with no expansion option.
Launching should take time
The tipster says that the ROG Phone 9 will launch with noticeable improvements to the display, but the fact that Smart Pikachu has not offered any specifications makes the matter even more mysterious.
However, the last generation had a 6.7-inch screen with an AMOLED panel, Full HD + resolution and a 165 Hz refresh rate. For the new attack, Asus could increase the resolution or size of the screen, but we will only find out soon.
In fact, it may take some time for the ROG Phone 9 to be released. With CES in January 2025, it is possible that Asus will announce the smartphone there, but the launch should happen a few months later.
