The service was launched in collaboration with the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the emirate’s Department of Municipalities and Transport.
“Offering taxi services through international apps like Yango improves operational efficiency and makes booking rides easier,” ITC CEO Abdullah Al Marzouqi told Gulf Business.
During the pilot phase, more than 300 taxis operated in Abu Dhabi and made more than 8,000 trips in the last five months. Currently, more than 1.5 thousand taxis are registered on Yango.
At the end of 2023, Yango opened its first international office in Dubai. It is reported that it will manage Yango’s global operations and the Yango Delivery service. Yango subsequently launched the Yango Maps navigation service in Dubai with a highly detailed next-generation map.
The Yango taxi ordering service is represented in more than 20 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Norway and Israel. In the Netherlands, the company is under investigation because it is related to the Russian law on taxi activities, according to which the FSB gained access to the databases of transporters.
