The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) requested data from 14 federal retail chains to analyze the price formation of socially significant products: bakery products, dairy products, meat products and vegetable borscht. This is stated on the regulator’s Telegram channel.

What information did the FAS require from retailers?

Information on the monthly dynamics of weighted average purchase and sale prices to the public.

On the purchase and sales volumes of the above products for the period from January 1, 2024 to August 31, 2024.

About the retail price structure of each product.

On the factors influencing the difference between retail and manufacturer’s sales prices for each product, including in different regions of Russia.
Based on the data received, the regulator will analyze the validity of the retail prices of the products mentioned above. If the FAS identifies an unreasonable increase in cost, it can apply antitrust measures.
On September 11, 2024, the regulator required the largest producers of bread, flour and butter to provide information on each planned increase in the sales prices of these products before the end of the year.
