According to him, standard Apple applications such as Calendar, Notes and Home will work on the screen. You will also receive support for AI-powered Apple Intelligence features.

According to Gurman, the company is working on two products. The first is a device codenamed J595, which is a large screen with a robotic “arm” that starts at $1,000. The second prototype, J490, is a low-cost smart display for using FaceTime and controlling home appliances. The devices are expected to be placed on a table or attached with magnets to walls.

Apple typically places device production in China, but potential US sanctions against BOE and Tianma Microelectronics could complicate cooperation. The chairman of the Chinese Communist Party Affairs Committee in the United States House of Representatives, John Moolenaar, previously called for including them on the sanctions list in a speech addressed to the Secretary of Defense of that country, Lloyd Austin.

These companies carry out military orders for Chinese authorities, so US corporations’ cooperation with them threatens US national security, Moolenar said. BOE Technology Group produces displays for Apple smartphones.
