A total of 12,300 of these consoles will be produced at a price of $1,000, but speculators have already inflated the prices on the resale market. On eBay, these consoles are listed at markups of up to 200%, with prices going as high as $12,300 in some cases.
This situation is reminiscent of the original PS5’s release during the pandemic, when speculators bought the devices in bulk to resell.
Despite Sony’s attempts to limit the number of console purchases per person, retailers are still finding ways around these measures.
The only way to deal with dealers is to not buy from them. This may mean you have to wait, but it’s better than paying through the nose or risk falling for scammers.
