Binance received a state license to conduct cryptocurrency activities in Kazakhstan, according to data from the Astana Financial Services Authority. This is the first license of this type that the company receives in Central Asian countries.

Obtaining a license from the Binance crypto exchange gives you the right to operate a platform for trading cryptocurrencies, provide brokerage services, and store digital assets, as follows from the license description.
Binance already has licenses for cryptocurrency activities in many countries, including France, Sweden, Japan and Australia, according to the company’s official website.
In May 2022, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym Zhomart-Tokayev, met with the founder of Binance, Chapman Zhao. The meeting discussed the prospects for long-term cooperation between the specialized structures of Kazakhstan and Binance in the field of digital finance.
In May 2024, Zhao was sentenced to four months in prison on charges of money laundering and sanctions violation. In September, the Binance founder was released and shared his future plans.
