“For technical reasons, we had to suspend the work of the store and the customer service department. “We are doing everything possible to ensure that the company resumes its work as soon as possible, but in a new market format,” the statement said.
At the end of September, Player.ru closed. The company then said the store and customer service department were not operating “for technical reasons.” One of the customers told Shopper’s that the offline point near the Avtozavodskaya metro station was not working and that the managers “quit one day.”
The source of the publication said that the founder of Player.ru, Alexey Konashev, planned to create a marketplace on the basis of the store, where commissions for sellers would be “lower than those on the market”, and the storage of goods and delivery from warehouses would be free.
Player.ru was created in 2002. The store became popular due to its wide range and low prices. In 2013, the company was ranked 21st in the ranking of the 30 largest RuNet companies by Forbes. Player.ru’s revenue was then estimated at $60 million.
In 2018, the store already suspended operations amid searches at its Moscow office. In 2019, the court closed Player.ru for 30 days following an inspection by the Federal Tax Service and the FSB. They discovered that the company was committing check fraud.
