For $599 (or $499 for students), this computer offers impressive performance, especially when compared to past Mac mini models.

The Max Tech channel ran tests comparing the base Mac mini with the 10-core M4 and the Mac mini with the 12-core M2 Pro, priced at $1,599. In Geekbench 6 multi-core tests, both devices performed similarly, and in single-core tests the M4 even outperformed the more expensive chip.

However, in most GPU tests, the Mac mini with M4 was slightly inferior to the version with M2 Pro, except in Cinebench 2024, where the new processor showed a noticeable lead.

In testing, the peak power of the M4 GPU was around 22W, which shows its energy efficiency. For business tasks, the Mac mini with M4 performed well.
