According to the document, from November 1, 2024 to November 1, 2027, Google must allow users to download third-party app stores directly from Google Play. The company must also give developers the opportunity to distribute applications outside of Google Play.

The computer giant was forced to comply with other measures. For example, stop requiring developers to use only Google Play billing and allow them to inform users about alternative payment methods on Google Play.

The court’s decision said it should create conditions of fair competition for Google Play and other app stores. At the same time, Google will retain control over platform security and will be able to charge fees for appropriate measures.

Epic Games sued Google in 2020, accusing the company of a monopoly. In December 2023, Google lost the case. The jury found Google guilty of stifling its competitors and charging excessively high commissions (30%) to developers on Google Play.
