The new rates came into effect on October 5 and the government decree on the matter was published on September 27.
One of the key changes is the abolition of the 30% discount when submitting an application for registration of intellectual rights in electronic form, which was in force since 2017; The grace period for payment of duties has also been cancelled.
According to lawyers interviewed by the newspaper, the increase in duties will have a greater impact on small businesses and individuals who sell products through markets. Individuals and the self-employed did not receive the right to register trademarks until June 2023. According to experts, the increase in rights will not affect business activity in general.
In July 2024, Rospatent announced an increase in the costs of registering intellectual rights and transactions with them by 10-15%. The last time the rights were adjusted was in 2017.
