An insider said that the iPhone 18 will be based on chipmaker TSMC’s 2nm A20 chip. It also claims that this model will get 12 GB of RAM.
The A20 chip will be manufactured using WMCM technology, which differs from the current InFo technology by providing higher flexibility and optimized communication between the central processing unit (CPU) and the graphics processing unit (GPU) and other chipset components.
According to another insider and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, only the flagship Pro versions will be equipped with 2nm chips due to their high cost.
Mass production of 2 nm chips is expected to start in 2025. Apple will be the first smartphone vendor to receive the new chips.
