“Previously, this benefit was allocated annually, without a strict link to indexation. This is now provided for by law. The benefit, indexed to an inflation rate of 7.3%, will amount to a maximum of 14,742 rubles,” Kotyakov said.

Spending on unemployment benefits in Russia fell due to its record level, the publication writes.

According to Rosstat, unemployment in Russia at the end of August 2024 does not exceed 2.4%. A similar figure was recorded in June and July. This is a record low for the entire observation period since 1991.

The drop in the total number of registered unemployed in the country began in 2022. Compared to 2021, there are 30% fewer unemployed.

On October 14, the State Duma Committee on Social Policy approved a bill setting the minimum wage at 22,440 rubles as of January 1, 2025.
