According to him, former Revolut employees founded 49 companies, 21 of which are in the financial technology sector.
Former Klarna employees have created 62 new companies, 26 of which are in the fintech sector. Among them is the Anyfin service, which helps reduce interest rates on loans, and the Pretzel AI programming platform based on artificial intelligence.
Klarna topped Accel’s ranking because the company “has every opportunity to prepare” its founders: it is large, has a long history of leading market positions and has “interesting” internal employee practices, the Accel partner said, Luca Bocchio, in a conversation with CNBC.
In total, of the 98 European and Israeli fintech startups supported by venture capital funds, 82 contributed to the emergence of 625 startups, the report shows. In 61% of cases, employees of fintech companies created startups in the same city where their former workplace was located.
