In a new interview with the Wall Street Journal, Apple Vice President Craig Federighi explained why the company is in no hurry to release new Apple Intelligence features.
He stated that this is the company’s special approach to development:
This is a big step. You can release something and do it in a messy environment. Apple’s viewpoint is more like, “Let’s try to get every part right and release it when it’s ready.”
The Cupertino approach differs from the usual, since Apple Intelligence then works mostly locally, as direct competitors to cloud computing. User data is also sent there.
Federighi noted that chatbots like ChatGPT can be asked any question, like how quantum mechanics works, but you can’t connect to a garage door or send a text message. Sooner or later this integration took place, but not yet.
Craig is confident that the development of AI technologies will take years, if not a decade. At Apple, we are moving into this area with high responsibility and will not rush to implement “raw” functions.
