The new models are better at word processing, can reason and work with queries of up to 60 pages, four times longer than before, the company said. Pro solves more complex problems, such as sales analysis, while Lite is designed for quick responses in simple scenarios.

You can try them through a demo version in the Yandex Cloud chat. In the future, models will appear on Yandex services, mainly on the Alice station with the “Pro” option. For now, some features of YandexGPT 4 are working in test mode.

According to the company, YandexGPT 4 Pro provides better responses in 70% of cases compared to the previous version and for a number of tasks it is closer to GPT-4o, a multi-module generative transformer model launched by OpenAI in May of 2024.

The new Yandex models can solve problems step by step thanks to the chain of thought function, dividing them into separate stages. Additionally, YandexGPT 4 can generate commands for third-party applications. For example, a neural network can write a command for a service to search for airline tickets.

In September, a text editor powered by YandexGPT was added to Yandex Browser, as well as a neural translator and a tool for briefly retelling texts.
