According to CTK, CSA aircraft will retain the colors and logo of Czech Airlines, but in the ticketing systems and on the departure board the flights will be marked with a code used by Smartwings.

The company assures that nothing will change for CSA customers: tickets will be sold on the websites of Czech Airlines and Smartwings. Additionally, all flight directions will be maintained.

At the same time, CSA ceases to be a member of the international airline alliance SkyTeam, of which it has been a part for more than 20 years.

Smartwings has been the majority owner of CSA shares since 2018. In March 2021, Czech Airlines went bankrupt due to high debts; At the same time, the owners of Smartwings became new investors in the airline.

Since the beginning of October 2024, CSA has been part of the Smartwings group. In a joint statement, the companies said the reason for the change in business model was to improve the group’s performance.

Founded in 1923, Czech Airlines was one of the oldest airline companies in the world. Until 2013, more than 95% of the company’s shares belonged to the State.
