OpenAI launched this Thursday (31st) Search feature integrated into ChatGPTIt positions generative AI as a new rival for Google, Bing and other search engines. The tool has been tested with a limited number of users and will now be available to everyone.
SearchGPT, called the engine in the beta phase, works on the same interface as the chatbot and combines the capabilities of language models with web search. It automatically searches based on questions, but can be triggered manually by clicking the icon if the user wishes.
“Now chat can lead you to a better answer: Ask the question in a more natural and conversational way, and ChatGPT can choose to respond with information from the web. Dig deeper with follow-up questions; ChatGPT will take into account the entire context of your chat to get a better response for you,” says the company.
Searching for ChatGPT also displays: current results of sports events, financial market information, weather forecast and latest newsand more details. Another new feature is the inclusion of links to resources displayed in the sidebar in conversations with the bot.
Available on all platforms
The ChatGPT search engine can be accessed on all platforms where generative AI is available, such as the web version of the technology. Bot apps for mobile devices (Android and iOS) and desktop (Windows and macOS) will also integrate this feature.
