Avtovaz plans to introduce autopilot technology in its cars in the 2030s, the company’s head of research and development, Konstantin Kotlyarov, said at the Golden Valley research and production forum. TASS writes about this.

According to him, developers must solve two main problems before introducing the technology. The first is the orientation of the autopilot based on road markings in winter, the second is decision-making in case of an emergency situation on the road or the need to make a “moral choice”.
“The driver makes those decisions spontaneously. And the programmer must prescribe this for some reason. This problem is holding everyone back today, but, of course, it will be solved,” Kotlyarov said.
In early September, Avtovaz announced its readiness to start production of the LADA Aura business class sedan. Already in 2024, the company plans to produce about 3,000 cars in Togliatti, which could become a direct competitor to the Toyota Camry.
