The update is background and automatic. The new feature is available on PC, Mac and Steam Deck consoles.

At the same time, the updated Steam client no longer supports Windows 7 and 8, as well as Mac computers running macOS 10.13 and 10.14.

It is stated that players can start saves manually using a hotkey (the default is Ctrl+F11) or set them to run automatically, with the ability to limit the length, quality and storage space available to Steam.

The developers guarantee that the new client will work with all games, including non-Steam games that allow you to run Steam Overlay. By default, game recording is disabled: the functionality settings are located in the Game Recordings tab in Steam settings.
