Researchers from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine analyzed data from 445 participants with an average age of 76. At the beginning of the study, participants filled out questionnaires about their sleeping habits and took tests on memory and walking speed. The risk of developing MCD in people with excessive daytime sleepiness or low enthusiasm is 35.5%, while this rate is 6.7% in people without these problems. After taking into account various factors such as age and health status, the study found that such people were more than three times more likely to develop MCC.
