While upgrading from Windows Server 2022 to 2025 may seem appealing to ordinary people, it’s a big challenge for administrators who have to make sure their mission-critical software will be compatible with the new operating system.
The issue appears to be related to a bug in Microsoft’s update classification system; This error caused Windows Server 2025 to be incorrectly labeled as an optional and safe update for servers running Windows Server 2022. Anecdotally, update service Heimdal discovered that the update GUID refers to Windows. 11 is not Windows Server 2025.
