Experts believe that breakfast is a must to improve cholesterol levels. And the sooner the better. Veronica Rose, a nutritionist who specializes in heart-healthy eating, recommends eating within two hours of waking up. This will help control cholesterol.

Lisa Andrews, M.Ed., RD, founder of Sound Bites Nutrition, agrees with Rose, pointing to some research. They associate skipping breakfast with higher levels of bad cholesterol.

Additionally, many people who skip breakfast then begin to overeat and snack on junk food.

Fruits are usually eaten for breakfast. They provide our body with vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and fiber. Whole grain toast or cereal provides B vitamins that reduce the risk of heart disease. Oatmeal also lowers cholesterol levels. If you want to lower your cholesterol levels even further, eat more plant-based foods in the morning.
