Currently, several AI developers are busy creating agents, i.e. AI programs capable of performing multi-step tasks with minimal supervision.
-
Anthropic introduced an agent that can monitor in real time what is happening on a user’s computer and take actions on their behalf.
-
Microsoft, which is an investor in OpenAI, has also launched several tools for sending emails and managing records.
-
Google is working on a similar artificial intelligence agent, The Information reports.
OpenAI is working on several agent-related projects, three sources said. Among them, the closest to completion is a general-purpose tool that performs tasks in the browser, adds a font.
Previously, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hinted that the company’s focus would be on agents. “Our models will get better and better. But I think the next big thing will be agents,” he wrote during an AMA on Reddit.
