MTS increased the volume of data transmission in 2024 on all metro lines by 20%, which is 2 times higher than the increase in Moscow as a whole. This was achieved thanks to work carried out this year to expand the capacity and frequency resource by dividing the coverage area in tunnels and launching an additional LTE 1800 network in the busiest sections of the metro.
Previously, in 2021-2023, the company modernized its mobile communication network in the Moscow metro. For stable operation of voice communications and Internet presence at speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s, MTS installs multi-band base stations on platforms and vestibules, and uses high-frequency slotted cable in tunnels.
The complex of works will ensure an increase in data consumption and comfortable Internet speed for passengers.
In October, the volume of data transfer in the MTS network in the Moscow metro reached 6,500 TB – a historical maximum. This figure is higher than the monthly Internet traffic in Voronezh or Nizhny Novgorod.
In September, the company launched a mobile network and high-speed Internet on the first section of the Troitskaya metro line, as well as at the new Sokolnicheskaya line station.
