This update will save many car owners from the problems of frozen charging connectors and cables that people have encountered over the years. This was also one of the reasons why Tesla started installing heated charging connectors on its electric vehicles in 2020. As Teslarati noted, this was a long-awaited update, but “as with other Tesla features, there were still some bugs that could be fixed.”
The new update will allow vehicle owners to manually turn on the heating of the charging port without using other functions. There is a new “Charging port heating” option in the electric vehicle software, which can be activated from the electric vehicle control section.
The ability to manually enable charging port heating is currently only available on select 2024 Model X and 2023 Model Y models that have the 2024.44.3.1 update installed.
