The metro in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia, received its first passengers this Sunday. During the first phase, 45 stations came into operation.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, starting December 1, the Riyadh Metro will serve passengers on three lines. The Blue Line, 38 km long and with 24 stations, runs from north to south through the city.

The 29 km long Yellow Line connects 10 stations from the city center to King Khalid International Airport. The purple line, 30 kilometers long and with 11 stations, runs north and northeast of the kingdom’s capital.
There are a total of six lines in the Riyadh metro. On December 15, the Red and Green lines will be put into operation, and the Orange Line is scheduled to be launched on January 5, 2025. The train manufacturers for the metro in the capital of Saudi Arabia are the German Siemens, the Canadian Bombardier and the French Alstom.

According to Al Arabiya, the length of Riyadh’s metro lines will be 176 kilometers and the total number of stations will be 85.
